GRASS-FED MATTERS!

Environment. What a cow eats during its life matters--for the consumer of beef and for the planet. Cows on grass contribute to a healthy ecosystem, fertilize and condition soil, and do not contribute to the toxic buildup of animal waste so prevalent on concentrated animal feeding operations. The animals are healthier and thus the beef that you consume from them is, too.

Nutrition. The nutritional difference between grass-fed beef and grain-fed beef is dramatic! First off, it’s significantly lower in fat--about ½ to ⅓ lower in total fat compared to a grain-fed cow. And the fat that is there? It can be a health benefit by providing:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids (like you would find in salmon)
  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (a vital polysaturated fat that fights cancer and discourage weight gain)
  • Antioxidant vitamins (especially Vit. E)
  • Healthy fats that improve blood sugar
